Zoo trip
Blogging about the zoo
WALT report, recount and reflect
When: On Thursday week seven term two
Where: The Auckland Zoo western springs
What: A school trip with all of Te Waka Ako syndicate
Who: The senior syndicate and parents
Why: Because NZ animals are our inquiry subject
How:By a two story bus
Then alll the groups went back to the front of the zoo where we then went into our classes and were put with a tour guide. When we were with the tour guide we went to see the native or endemic animals. We saw the Tuatara, skink and gecko. Next our group had a talk about the Tuatara and did you know that the Tuatara only breathes once an hour and has been around for millions and millions of years. After we had finished at Tuatara we met outside the check in center getting ready for the bug lab.
Finally all the groups were told in our groups to make a team name. We were called the killer bees but our parent leader just called us the bees. When we entered the bug lab there was a mini slide which made a bug noise. Then there was a table which had pieces of paper and a question saying if you could be a bug for one day what would you be. I picked a dragon fly so I could experience flying and be small so I could fit into small spaces. Then I learnt how to make a paper butterfly. My group then went to go outside to get ready for the bus.

At the end of the day I really wish that we had more time because I was really disappointed that we didn't get to see the kiwis. I hope to go back again.
This was my favourite animal that I saw at the zoo. |
This is the tiger we saw it roaring at the top of the mountain like it was the king of the zoo. |
Did you know that a group of tortoises is called a creep. |
Meerkats can reach 12 inches in height and weigh up to 2 pounds. |
