Day five week one SLJ
Summer learning journey
Activity one
Towering timbers
For this activity you have to make two reason to be for or against logging. Here is what I think.
I think should keep logging going but I think there should only be some certain places where you can do logging and only a certain amount that can be cut down and that amount can't be to much. Here are my two reasons why.
- I think I made the right choice because we need to be able to make some paper and build houses and I think it cost a bit much buying it off different countries.
- If we stop logging we will be buying a lot a paper of of other countries. But if we keep logging going it will be bad for the enviroment.
activity two
living on the edge
For this activity you have to write a letter to a family member of a friend about what your trip to tundra was like you have to have a greeting and around 5-6 sentences.
Dear Mum
Today our school went on a trip to tundra it was a hot hard day. We went for a really big walk witch felt like forever. Something that was not good was that I left my drink bottle at home so I could't have any water there. I was relived as we were heading back to school. When we got to school I tried to run to the water fountain but is was just to hot so I walked. Surprisingly I was first in line I had a huge drink some people got annoyed because I was taking so long.

Bonus Activity three
going..going...gone
For this activity we had to write what New Zealand was like before it sank because scientists believe that the countries are slowly sinking into th ocean
New Zealand is an amazing place to live it is made up of three island one tiny one called Stewart island, one medium sized one called north island also is where I live and the south island. New Zealand has lots of amazing scenery lots of cafe's and theaters, parks and lots of fun places to visit. It would be amazing if you could see how amazing New Zealand is when it's not in water because it truly is just wonderful.

ReplyDeleteTalofa Zoe,
ReplyDeleteWow, three activities in one post! You are on a roll. :)
Activity 1:
I can tell you’ve been thinking hard about the subject of logging, because you have reasons for thinking logging should be allowed. I like that you’ve started a bullet pointed list to write down your reasons. I can see that you have also started to think about why we should stop logging, perhaps next time you could list a few other reasons. It is perfectly fine to have lots of different thoughts about something.
I’m personally against logging because I believe our animals deserve to live and thrive in their homes! Also, trees provide shade for us stay cool. As for what you said about paper, did you know that there are other ways to make it? I think a little research is in order, you’d be very surprised at all the different ways. :)
Activity 2:
You have written an informative letter to your Mum about your day at the Tundra. The worst thing in hot weather is not being able to cool down with a drink of water. However, remember that the Tundra has an average temperature of -28°C, which means it is insanely cold!
Please edit your letter to reflect the real temperatures found in the Tundra. I will be happy to reward you with full points for this activity when you have done so. You've got this!
If I had the opportunity, I'd definitely go to experience the extreme cold, especially now that it is summer and so hot here in Auckland! Would you go?
Activity 3:
You have written a nice little description about our country Aotearoa. I agree that our country has lots of beautiful scenery and fun places to visit, maybe next time you could include the names (and pictures) of some of these special places. I bet tourists would appreciate the recommendations.
I love all the cultural diversity (different cultures) we have here in Aotearoa, there are so many events that happen every year to celebrate diversity. Pasifika Festival is one event I love to go to, it makes me proud to see all our Tagata Pasifika being celebrated in a big way. All the food stalls and performances are amazing. Have you ever been to Pasifika?
Keep up the good work Zoe, don't forget to enjoy the sunshine!
Toe feiloa’i fo’i,
Cia.
