Day two Week one SLJ
Summer learning journey
Activity one
Hi bloggers, For the summer learning journey we had to make a blog on whether or not we want to visit Tanē Mahuta one day. Also to say reasons why and why not you want to visit the special tree. Here is what I thought about it.
I would like to visit Tanē Mahuta one day because it is such an amazing tree and it has been there for years and years also it is a very special tree.
Here are my reasons why and why not I want to visit Tanē Mahuta.
Why I want to see Tanē Mahuta
- My first reason why I want to visit Tanē Mahuta is because it is a very very old tree and not many people in the world have seen it.
- It is a special tree and it would be really cool to see it.
- I have never seen it before and it will be a cool adventure and experience seeing it and going there and back.
Why I don't want to see Tanē Mahuta
- My first reason why I wouldn't want to go see it is because may not know where to go to find it.
- How will I know what tree is Tanē Mahuta and I may end up seeing it but not realizing it is actually Tanē Mahuta.
Activity two
fantastic ferns
fantastic ferns
This activity is about all of the New Zealand sports teams with ferns in it. Here are some examples silver ferns ( woman netball), Black ferns (woman rugby union ) and the football ferns (woman football). The plant called the fern is a very common plant in New Zealand. You will find the fern on many New Zealand sport uniforms. We had to rank from one to three our favourite uniform out of The silver fern uniform, football fern uniform or the rugby fern uniform.
In first for me would be the silver fern uniform because the design looks very cool. Also the fabric looks comfortable and stretchy. also the fact that it is kind of like a dress instead of a T-shirt and shorts.
The football uniform came in second for me because it looked comfortable and easy to move in and nothing looked to tight on it. also it didn't look like they would get to hot in it. also the design looked quite nice.
The black ferns uniform came in last for me because the design on it was kind of boring and looked like they might get a bit hot and sweaty when wearing that. Also it looked a little like they might get a bit itchy in it.
Bonus activity three
Weird and wonderful
For this task it was a maths question and that question was that you were given a cactus for your birthday you know that cactus's live on three millilitres a day you want to figure out how much water in would need in one year witch is 365 days in total.
Here is how I would figure it out. First I would do 3 x 100=300 then I would do 300 x 3=900 then I would do 60 x 3=180 then you do 3 x 5=15. Then lastly you +900, 180 and 15+ 1095. It would end up being 1 litre and 95 ml.
blog you later
Kia ora Zoe,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Rachel and I am working with Megan and Cia on the Summer Learning Journey programme this year. It is awesome to see that you are blogging with us this year! I hope that you're enjoying the programme and that you'll be able to continue posting great work throughout the holiday!
From this activity I can see that you have done some maths, sourced some pictures and thought carefully about whether you would like to visit Tane Mahuta. I, too, would like to visit this amazing tree. I have been told that it is easy to find as they have built a special walkway from the road to the tree and posted a sign beside it, telling you that you have found it. It is also so old and large that, apparently, it stands much higher than all of the other trees. I am confident that you would be able to find it if you went looking for it.
I am also confident that you would be able to keep your cactus alive as your answer to the maths problem is right. In this case we were looking for you to provide your answer in millilitres (ml). Can you please pop back onto your blog and change your answer of 1 Litre and 95 mL to mls? Can you also please be sure to post a link to the website where you found the pictures of our female athletes in their jerseys? It is really important that we give credit to the person who took the pictures. Thanks so much, Zoe! If you would like some help with the picture credits, please follow this link: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1VKjkMGwBrk2YI6Vtmg91OAQljr_T3ZSV6YZtu6MWFNM/edit
It will tell you all about it!
Hope to see you back online soon. I'm already looking forward to reading your other posts!
Bye for now,
Rachel
